When the mind is

at peace

the world too is

at peace.

Nothing real,

Nothing absent.

Not holding on

to reality,

nor getting stuck

in the void,

you are neither holy

nor wise, just

an ordinary fellow

who has completed

his work.

LAYMAN P'ANG

c. 740-808

'Silence and seclusion

are the secrets

of success.

In this modern

life of activity

there is only

one way to

separate yourself

from its ceaseless

demands..

get away from it

once in a while..

Ten thousand flowers

in spring, the moon

in autumn, a cool

breeze in summer,

snow in winter.

If your mind

isn't clouded by

unnecessary things,

this is the best

season of your

life.

Empty your mind

of all thoughts.

Let your

heart be at peace.

Watch the turmoil of

beings, but

contemplate their

return.

Each separate being

in the universe

returns to the

common source.

Returning to the

source

is serenity...

psycho-neuro-immunology

The alchemy of your mind

Psycho-neuro-immunology

The term psycho-neuro-immunology has been coined by American neuro-scientists who have recently made huge breakthroughs in identifying that there are actual chemical links between our psychology (the way we think), the nervous system and the endocrine glands, which govern our immunity.

Thinking positively is not only a psychological strategy for empowering your skills as a therapist, but research has shown that on a psycho-physiological level positive thoughts can and do alter our chemistry. This happens through the calming quality of positive thinking that sends relaxed signals to the hypothalamus at the brains stem. These signals then relay down through the central nervous system which in turn triggers the endocrine system to release hormones and neuro-chemicals directly into the blood stream.  This process boosts the immune system and creates the physiological feelings of well-being which has similarities to the breaths journey that travels through the lungs to the limbic and circulatory system.

This evidence shows that negative, anxious or unhappy thoughts aggravate the nervous system causing the endocrine system to manufacture acidic neuro-chemicals that have a stress inducing effect.  Over- acidity in the body and mind creates a hyper condition and can go on to cause impatience, aggression, headaches, allergies, skin problems, corrosion of the body tissue, poor digestion, excess gases, pressure on the veins and arteries which weaken the heart and inhibit circulation.  It is a vicious circle.

On the other hand positive, calm inducing thoughts, create a more alkaline condition in the blood and therefore throughout the body and mind.  This neutralises the effects of negative stress naturally creating a more balanced and healthy internal environment.
Consequently, it is in the interests of the therapist to make sure you are not adding unnecessary stress to your self or to the treatment by negative, judgemental or haphazard thinking.  Discursive thinking can inhibit your energy levels and overall performance as a therapist and healer. Your own well-being will influence the clients experience and help them to release their anxiety more easily, preventing them from developing further acidity and stress.
